Welcome back to JoyFULL Woman Podcast! I’m Joy, A Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Therapist, and today, we’re confronting one of the biggest roadblocks to stepping fully into the life God has designed for us—imposter syndrome. If you’ve ever thought, 'I’m not qualified enough,' 'I’m not smart enough,' 'Who am I to do this?,' or felt like a fraud in your own success—this episode is for you.
Imposter syndrome is not just a mental struggle—it is a spiritual battle designed to keep you from walking in your God-given identity and purpose. When we constantly question our worth, our calling, and our ability, we are not just doubting ourselves—we are doubting the God who placed this calling inside us.
But here’s the truth: God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called. And today, we are going to break down:
✔ What imposter syndrome is & how it affects high-achieving women of faith
✔ How imposter syndrome is an enemy strategy against your identity in Christ
✔ How to step into confidence, purpose, and divine gifting
✔ How to assess and claim your spiritual gifts & calling
✔ Prayers, reflection prompts, and journal exercises to overcome self-doubt"
Because it’s time to stop shrinking and start stepping into who God created you to be.
Part 1: Imposter Syndrome is not an actual diagnosis rather it is a label that is tossed around meaning that we feel like a fraud.
Here's a breakdown:
- What it is: A persistent feeling of self-doubt, incompetence, or fraudulence despite evidence of success or competence.
- Common in: High-achievers, perfectionists, and people in competitive environments.
- Often overlaps with: Anxiety, depression, and perfectionism—but it’s not classified as its own disorder.
Impostor Syndrome, characterized by persistent feelings of self-doubt and fear of being exposed as a "fraud" despite evident competence, affects a significant portion of the population. Here's an overview of the most recent statistics.
